Additionally, the conveyor system has been reengineered to pull the workpiece through the sander rather than push it, which significantly reduces stress on the belt and improves overall performance.
Precision Depth Control at Your Fingertips
A newly integrated depth scale now accompanies the large handwheel on top of the machine, allowing you to adjust drum height with remarkable accuracy. The sander handles material from 1/32 inch up to 3 inches thick and accommodates pieces as short as 2-1/4 inches in length. Each complete turn of the crank adjusts the drum height by 1/16 inch, giving you precise control over sanding thickness.
The combination of drum height adjustment and downward pressure also helps minimize snipe. Thanks to the open-ended design, the JET 16-32 can sand workpieces up to 32 inches wide by making two passes. A convenient camber adjustment ensures you can avoid witness marks on wide boards with ease.
Advanced Dust Collection System
To enhance dust collection efficiency, JET has completely redesigned the hood to feature an integrated channel that mirrors the drum's shape. This channel expertly directs dust and debris to a 4-inch-diameter dust port positioned on top of the hinged hood, keeping your workspace cleaner and your lungs healthier.
Powerful Motor Configuration
The JET 16-32 Drum Sander is equipped with two TEFC motors for optimal performance. A 1-1/2 HP, single-phase, 110V, 14-amp motor drives the sanding drum at 1,725 RPM, while a separate direct-drive DC motor powers the conveyor belt. The infinitely variable control produces conveyor feed rates ranging from 0 to 10 feet per minute. JET's exclusive SandSmart™ control continuously monitors the load on the drum motor and automatically adjusts conveyor speed to maintain the optimal feed rate. When the sanding depth is too aggressive or the feed rate too fast, a red indicator light alerts you immediately.
A safety-keyed On/Off switch with overload protection is conveniently mounted on the control box next to the SandSmart control panel for easy access.
Patented Belt Trackers™ Technology
